Welcome to issue 111 of the Call to Comms!

This is the last newsletter of the year. Thank you for following our work in 2025!

💡
Next year, The Call to Comms newsletter will change a little bit, becoming a monthly newsletter. We will still feature missions updates, interviews, testimonials – but in a general newsletter where you will be able to easily access all of the topics TSF covered during the month, in one email.
The newsletter will be sent on the third Tuesday of every month.

You can also follow us on social media - LinkedIn and Instagram - to see more regular updates.

Responding to Communication and Information Needs in 2025

“[The connection felt] like I got back to the world.”

Dear Friend of TSF,

This is what one of the survivors of Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica shared with us. The storm destroyed parts of the island and cut communications for many; this particular testimonial shows how being unable to reach your loved ones and access information on the situation can feel distressing and hinder recovery.

This year, we shared with you stories of people accessing communication and information, like Julia, a displaced mother of four who was able to address important issues with her children about bodily autonomy, but also Clara, a young woman in rural Madagascar who uses digital technology to help achieve her dream.

This is why access to communication and information is essential, whether it is in the very next days following a hurricane, years after internally displaced persons fled conflict in Ukraine or for people forced to move in Latin America.

In 2025, crises became increasingly complex and intense, with conflicts, violence, economic struggles and climate change affecting more and more people. Access to humanitarian aid is restricted in several crisis contexts.

TSF strives to adapt to these complex and uncertain contexts, and is ready to do everything to respond to communication and information needs as they arise. In Latin America, in the face of displacement and natural disasters, we worked to share essential information and connectivity. In Europe, where conflicts have forced millions out of their homes, we worked with shelters in Ukraine and rescue organizations in the Mediterranean sea to enable people to reach their loved ones. In Madagascar, where safe access to technology is challenging, we addressed digital safety needs of specific groups in vulnerable situations. You can read more about our work this year here.

The Humanitarian Communication Needs of 2025: TSF’s Response
TSF’s response to humanitarian challenges and needs when it comes to information and communication.

The support of our partners is essential for us to respond to humanitarian needs. In times of uncertainty, funding cuts, and intensified crises, solidarity is key. You can concretely help people in humanitarian crises regain control of their life, whether it’s by having your company become a partner or by donating.

Thank you for your support during this year.

Have a good festive season, and see you next year!
