Meet Vira, Displaced in Ukraine: ‘We Really Want the War to End’

This week marks four years of conflict in Ukraine. For the millions of forcibly displaced people, many of them living in temporary centers, this means another year of hardship, stress, isolation, distressing living conditions, and more.

We met Vira, a 74 year old displaced woman living in a shelter. Her son is fighting, and she cannot always afford an Internet connection to stay in contact and look for information. So, for her, the free Wi-Fi TSF provides in her shelter is very important.

“My son is fighting, and I'm watching the situation. I look because we really want the war to end. I wake up right away, I need to know how the children are doing.”

The Preparedness Project That Helped Respond to Hurricane Melissa

TSF has been responding to emergencies such as hurricanes for more than two decades. But as crises evolve, our response must evolve, too. Read how an Internet Resilience project helped us respond to Hurricane Melissa.
