Welcome to issue 100 of the Call to Comms!
We're pleased and excited to mark this hundredth issue of our newsletter. When we created it back in early 2023, we wanted to unite our partners and supporters around the intersection of humanitarian action and technology - a subject we're familiar with as an NGO using technology to help people in humanitarian crises.
From mission insights to testimonies and discussions, with the occasional technology explainer, this newsletter has explored how using technology responsibly in these contexts can help people in many ways, and how this can be achieved only by federating multiple stakeholders. We are grateful for you and everyone who reads The Call to Comms. Thank you!
This week, we are also delighted to share with you our Annual Report for 2024. Read more below!
TSF's Annual report 2024
This year, our annual report is structured by region. This shows how crises are linked to each other, and highlights the importance of alliances with national and regional organizations to enhance resilience.
Changing contexts
In 2024, conflicts, extreme climatic events and political and social instabilities had a major impact on populations, forcing them into exile, isolating them from their loved ones or destroying their living spaces and means of subsistence.
Key figures in 2024
- +263,800 people supported
- 62 organizations helped
- 14 missions
Meeting information and communication needs
Last year, we provided connectivity in emergency situations, after Hurricane Beryl in the Caribbean and Cyclone Chido in Mayotte, and in long-term crises, in Ukraine and in the context of the migratory situation in Europe. We shared essential information for people on the move in Latin America, and developed new projects to meet their needs in digital safety and contributed to strengthen resilience after a disaster. Finally, we encouraged digital inclusion in Madagascar and Syria.
